Some things you might not know about us!
Every firetruck on the North Shore carries a complete set of Oxygen masks and Cat/Dog resuscitation equipment from Ambleside Animal Hospital. This was something that the vets and staff felt strongly about, and with the help of our clients, we were able to equip every fire department from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay.
We are the only vet clinic offering laparoscopic spays, gastropexies, and biopsies on the North Shore. This is a way to perform surgery in the abdomen using only two tiny pencil-sized incisions. We can view internal structures (magnified in HD!), allowing for a more thorough examination, and the small incisions allow for a quicker, smoother recovery!
Our dental suite contains two Surgi-Den dental tables and we use them on a daily basis. We take full mouth dental x-rays on every dental patient to check for any disease under the gums. Regular dental cleanings can keep your pet’s teeth pearly white and help to prevent dental disease. Give us a call to find out how you can get a $150 discount off of a dental cleaning for your pet!
We use the newest monitoring equipment.
A dedicated technician uses a Bionet monitoring system to take care of your pet during anesthesia for all of our surgeries and dental procedures. With this equipment, we can monitor your pet’s heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and more!
With results available in less than 30 minutes, our in-house lab allows us to get important results for your pet very quickly. In an emergency, we can have results in as little as 10 minutes if needed. We can even do a pre-anesthetic screening on your pet on the day of surgery!
We work with a number of charities.
We are very proud to work with the West Vancouver SPCA and Maplewood Farms in North Vancouver. Once in a while, when we’re really lucky, we get to help out with the amazing raptors at O.W.L Rehab. If you haven’t been by in a while, please visit these great facilities.
We have a veterinary chiropractic and acupuncturist.
Dr. Carla Wilkie has a thriving chiropractic and acupuncture practice on Sundays. This tends to be a saught after service and there is often a wait-list, so phone reception to book well in advance.
Every vet and staff here has pet insurance!! Dr Booth has spent $14,000 in 2016 on his dog Wolfie – his insuror is covering 90% of the bill. We strongly recommend pet insurance to help cover what can be very, very expensive health care when pets get very sick, have emergencies, or need 24hr care. The providers that come most recommended are Pets Plus Us and Trupanion.
Every one of our patients has a private webpage on our server for client access only. Petsites is the program that allows our clients access their private medical record and communicate with us directly from their smartphone or computer. Ask reception for your login code!
